A blog as a logbook
My name is Nicolas. I am one of the founders of WE ARE CLOUD, a software company based in France. Actually, I should say one of the future founder because we are still in the middle of the process of creation.
I have postponed for a long time the creation of a blog. I definitely read a LOT of blogs. I think of them as my secret weapons to stay ahead and grasp what is happening in our world. In my opinion, blog and the RSS aggregator principle, is a stunning revolution in literature. Everybody, can easily become a writer and have an audience and on the other hand, access to information has never been so easy : open a browser and wait for it to come.
So why not having jump into the train sooner ? Well actually, I tried for 10 days and then stopped because of a bad feeling of deja-vu. I am today a technical and design guy. So many blogs (and very good ones) talk about design and technology that I felt just repeating what I saw somewhere else and not bringing something new to any field.
So what makes me feel that today is different ?
We believe that we have a very good idea for setting up a business. I won’t explain it for now but just enough to say that is based on emerging business models like Software as a Service (Saas for short), new technology like Elastic computing, Ror and Adobe Flex and a well known but still very dynamic IT field of business intelligence.
From the title of the post and my last sentence you should have guessed that the aim of this blog will be to be the repository of our experiences. We are on the verge of a journey. I don’t know where it goes but I am sure we will make mistakes, we will do good, we will meet great and bad people, we will discover things, analyze others, we may succeed or fail. And I feel for the first time that a blog where we write down all what is happening to us should be a good idea.
I used sooner the word ‘literature’. May be it is a little out of place here, but in literature we have the concept of initiatory journey, where young people become man through a set of adventures. I hope we will succeed to manage this blog as a diary of our initiatory journey, with the most fun possible (our mistakes) , sometimes with suspense (our first customer…), action (the technical stuff), always with beautiful landscape (design and usability), tragedy (failures) or an happy end (success).
